Quilting Interlude

I have more stuff to add about the camping trip, but since this is a quilting blog I thought I'd quickly post pix of the only quiltmaking I've had time to do lately. It's a really fun, easy pattern called Disappearing Nine Patch.
First you make a nine patch with large squares, I used 4 inch squares:
Square it up, then cut it into four squares like this:
Turn two of the squares like this:
Sew into a new square:
Sew lots of squares together! I haven't gotten this far, these are a few to show what it will look like. Hope to have more to show soon!!

I really like this idea. It looks very effective.

Glad you survived the camping - you're a braver woman than I. I don't think I could have coped. If I had discovered the poles were missing, I'd have driven into town and checked into a hotel LOL

That is a good idea for a different quilt, that is easy.
You were very brave to take 3 children, plus a dog camping!!

What a clever idea, something that starts out simple and ends up looking so complex that if I make it everyone will think I am a quilting genius!
Camping with 3 kids, a dog and only 4 beers, mmm, I would need lots of red, red wine for medicinal purposes, of course. Glad you and the family had a good time. Happy quilting!

There's nothing worse than arriving at the campsite and finding something missing - that poor little chap to bump his nose so - thank goodness it wasn't serious

Thanks for the inspiration! I made a quick baby quilt for my boss. Can't wait to try it with a more scrappy look. Love your colors.

I found this post Friday after reading Diane in Maui and seeing the quilt she made using your method. I liked it so much, I've spent the last two days making a lap-size quilt. I'm going to post pictures on my blog later today. It was easy and fun and turned out better than I thought it was going to because I wasn't sure of my color choices. Thanks a ton for sharing it; it's been a fun weekend. Now I've got to quilt it. Again, thanks a lot.
